The soccer field at Silas Deane Middle School has been closed after rocks and small shards of metal and glass began emerging from parts of playing surface earlier this month. About three weeks ago, players and coaches noticed the foreign materials surfacing from bare areas around the goals and at midfield, prompting the town to close the field, Town Manager Jeff Bridges said.
