An 11th hour push by Democrats in Connecticut's two largest cities began in earnest Thursday, with first lady Michelle Obama pleading for progressives to pour their hearts and souls into getting Gov. Dannel P. Malloy re-elected 72 hours before the president himself will come calling for the endangered incumbent in Bridgeport. Speaking with a renewed sense of urgency at Wilbur Cross High School in New Haven to a crowd of 2,400 people, who packed a gymnasium and an overflow auditorium, the first lady warned that gains made by Malloy on gun control reform, the minimum wage, paid sick days, equal pay and education are at stake in the midterm election.
