A year and a half after the Metro-North derailment in Bridgeport, the National Transportation Safety Board will at last release its final report on what caused the crash and what the agency will require the railroad to do to keep passengers safe in the future. In the weeks following that crash, the NTSB indicated that it would take some months to compile the report, but as each new accident happened -- including the horrific crash in the Bronx and two track worker deaths -- they were added to the Bridgeport incident, prolonging the report with each addition.
