Bridgeport's City Council is doing the right thing in pressing hard on the benefits the city is offering to a developer who's proposed to build at least 177 units of mixed-income housing on the city's East Side. Negotiating and squeezing is far preferable to establishing a moratorium on any tax subsidies to developers, as was part of the discussion just weeks ago when the idea was floated by City Council member Enrique Torres , the 20-member body's sole Republican.
