The shortcomings of Metro-North's Waterbury Branch are plentiful, but perhaps can best be summarized by the fact that a rider who misses a 6 p.m. northbound train out of Bridgeport will be waiting two and a half hours to catch the next one. The Waterbury line lacks signals and usable sidings, meaning only one train can be on the tracks in either direction at any time.
