New charter schools approved to open next fall in Bridgeport and Stamford would not be funded under the state budget advanced Monday by the Legislature's Appropriations Committee . The budget-writing committee leaves out funding for Capitol Harbor Prep Charter School and The Stamford Charter School for Excellence , providing just enough of an increase to allow existing charter schools to expand and fill empty seats.
