Life in Bridgeport's Downtown North

The issue: The 20-acre section of downtown Bridgeport known as Downtown North -- roughly north of Fairfield Avenue and east of Main Street -- has been a ghost town of empty old brick buildings for years. The department stores and other retail shops, the law offices, restaurants and the countless other going concerns that occupied them had long since left.
