The State Bond Commission on Friday approved more than $5 million for new energy microgrids projects in Milford's government center and the University of Bridgeport cafeteria and student center. Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, who sets the agenda of the 10-member commission, said it's part of a multiyear effort to set up small power plants in downtown areas where they can help critical facilities, from law enforcement to gas stations, recover after major weather-related power outages.
