Bitter cold delays schools, trains

The brutal cold that gripped the region Thursday morning affected everything from school openings to car batteries, and led more of the homeless to seek shelter. "The homeless simply can't survive outside this time of year," said Terry Wilcox, executive director of the Bridgeport Rescue Mission.
