Federal Judge Awards Waterbury Company $27.5 Million In Punitive Damages

A federal judge has awarded a division of specialty chemicals company MacDermid Inc. of Waterbury $27.5 million in punitive damages in a trade-secrets case, an amount that comes on top of $20 million in compensatory damages stemming from a jury award last summer. John R. Horvack Jr., an attorney representing MacDermid, said that according to their legal team's research, the punitive damages are the highest in state history.
