Middletown Council Adds Duties For City Treasurer

The common council has added duties to the much-debated city treasurer position, requesting that the treasurer be present for monthly council meetings and become a nonvoting member of the council's finance and government commission. The signature of the city treasurer - an elected position - is printed on all checks paid by the city, and the city treasurer's signature is also required before the city can borrow money.
