Bringing their 'A' game every day

In the tumult of the daily news, in the pushing and shoving of occasional bad schoolyard behavior by the adults who run it, it's easy to lose sight of some of the quiet good work that goes on every day in Bridgeport's public school system. At 30 elementary schools, six high schools and one alternative school, some 1,500 teachers come to work every day, roll up their sleeves and take on the challenge of teaching the 21,000 youngsters whose futures -- and attitudes about their future -- will be substantially influenced by these men and women.
