When people associate the word "industry" with Bridgeport, they most likely conjure a skyline of soaring stacks exhaling the smoke of metal works' blast furnaces, brass shops, armament makers like Remington, and the rest of the heavy, polluting industry that drove the city. Over the shifting economic landscape of decades, though, the lofty Latin started to ring a little hollow as the factories in Bridgeport and across the Northeast closed and the industry fled for more hospitable -- and profitable -- climes.
