A new federal report into the Metro-North train derailment in Bridgeport in 2013 says the bolts on the new M-8 passenger cars are too weak, according to the Hartford Courant . The report by the National Transportation Safety Board says that although the integrity of the bolts was not the direct cause of the derailment, they contributed to the severity of the incident when a portion of one train car sliced into another, the Courant said.
