DCF: Locked Girls' Unit Serving As 'Relief Valve'

In the eight months since it opened, the new Pueblo Unit for girls run by the state Department of Children and Families has housed 22 girls, who stayed an average of about 50 days each. DCF officials gave a tour Thursday of the new facility, on the grounds of the Albert J. Solnit Center, formerly known as Riverview Hospital, and near the Connecticut Juvenile Training School.
