Marie Kolok, 95, Port Chester Native

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. Marie Donatella Kolok , 95, a resident of Sakonnet Bay Manor in Tiverton, Rhode Island, died Thursday, July 2. Kolok, a graduate of Port Chester High School, Port Chester, New York, was born May 12, 1920. She met her husband, William Kolok at Byram Shore, Greenwich, Connecticut, where they enjoyed each other's company, socializing with friends, boating and fishing.

Handgun Stolen During Greenwich Car Burglary

Greenwich detectives are investigating the weekend theft of a handgun from a car parked on the Mill Street bridge in Byram. A Stamford man left his firearm inside his car parked on the Mill Street bridge on the Greenwich-Port Chester borer about 10 p.m. July 9 and walked to a bar in Port Chester, according to police spokesman Lt.

Greenwich Land Trust Plans Kayak Trip To Shell, Calf Islands

Join The Greenwich Land Trust from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday for an exploratory excursion to Shell Island and a guided tour of neighboring Calf Island, hosted by the Calf Island Conservancy. Kayakers will paddle from Byram Beach to Shell Island, a 5-acre property owned by the trust.

Distracted Driving Charge in Greenwich Hit-and-Run Crash

Greenwich Police say a driver was distracted by his GPS device, causing him to make a wide turn and slam into a parked car. The driver is accused of fleeing the scene of the crash at Byram Road and Talbot Lane about 10:35 p.m. June 27 when the occupants of the parked car confronted the man, according to a Greenwich Police report.

Walking Tour of Byram This Weekend

As part of the Town of Greenwich's 375th Anniversary celebration, the series of neighborhood tours will continue this weekend. Byram resident and architect Patricia Baiardi Kantorski will be guiding the next tour through central Byram on Saturday, June 27. Prior to the tour, Kantorski will share the stories about Byram's history in a slide presentation at the Byram Shubert Library on Mead Avenue, beginning at 10 a.m. Immediately afterwards, the free architectural walking tour of central Byram will focus on buildings highlighted in the presentation.

Byram Parents Rally for 'Scheme B' New Lebanon School Plan

The Greenwich Board of Selectmen is waiting for the Board of Education to decide next Tuesday on which plan it will recommend for the rebuilding of New Lebanon School in Byram. Meanwhile at the selectmen's meeting Thursday, parents made it clear there community unity in support of what is called Scheme B - a plan to build a new 57,000 square foot school on the adjacent athletic fields on William Street West.
