The City Council is considering a watered down version of a smoking ban in city parks that members rejected in May. Instead of relegating smokers to special sections within the parks, the revised proposal has been reduced in scope to public beaches, playgrounds and sports fields. "So at Seaside , if you stand on the sidewalk or out in the parking lot, you're able to smoke," Councilwoman Susan Brannelly, D-130, told the Ordinance Committee this week.
