A New Jersey man who confessed to fatally stabbing a Bridgeport cab driver in Norwalk earlier this month made his first appearance at the Stamford courthouse and was assigned a veteran public defender on Tuesday. Ramiro Arcos-Garcia, 32, a former Norwalk resident living in Elizabeth, N.J., appeared with his attorney Howard Ehring before Judge Gary White on a murder charge and was scheduled to return to court on Jan. 15. Arcos-Garcia has not entered a plea in the case and has to decide whether to pursue a probable cause hearing to determine if police had enough evidence to charge him with murder.
