Sigh of relief: As Fairfield commuters fall in service 'gap,' few first-day problems

Local and state officials braced for a chaotic commute Monday with Metro-North trains out of commission between Bridgeport and South Norwalk in the wake of Friday's collision between two trains in Bridgeport, just east of the Fairfield Metro station, but the first morning with buses substituting for trains locally went pretty smoothly.
