When Sam Lewis, 7, saw highway crews grinding trees into mulch several months ago, he felt a pang of sadness. His parents, Jill Pollack Lewis and Jeff Lewis, and family friends Renae and John Fiskewood, parents of Sam's classmate Sophie, 7, organized a joint birthday party in January and invited both first grade classes from Norfeldt Elementary School.
