Keeping safe at Christmas takes care, and water

Keeping a live Christmas tree watered may get lost among the myriad other holiday tasks, so Bridgeport firefighters offered a demonstration Wednesday of how quickly a tree can burn. It took about two minutes for the spruce bought on Dec. 1 and kept dry since then to be consumed by fire, outside Fire Headquarters on Congress Street.
