Mother and toddler critically injured in fire on Washington Avenue in Bridgeport

The fire sparked at around 12:30 a.m. at an apartment building at 223 Washington Ave. The flames were contained to one apartment, trapping the woman and her 2-year-old daughter inside and forcing dozens of others to evacuate.
