Judge takes the reins of city's courts

The judge who bucked the state Board of Education, ruling Paul Vallas wasn't qualified to be the city's school superintendent, forced Bill Finch to primary for the office of mayor and shuttered a social club on the city's East End, has been appointed the administrative judge for the area's judicial system -- the first woman to hold that position. "Judge Bellis has proven herself to be a terrific presiding judge over the busy civil docket in Bridgeport during the last four years, and her skill set will seamlessly transfer to her additional duties administrative judge duties," said Theodore Tyma, who stepped down from the position after five years.
