Stamford Man Suspected of Car Theft Is Busted on Cruise Ship

A third suspect is facing burglary and larceny charges in connection with the theft of a Chevy Impala from Cliff Avenue home in the Byram neighborhood of Greenwich. The 18-year-old from Stamford was caught aboard a Carnival Cruise line ship in Miami, FL where he was about to embark on a trip to the Caribbean Islands with his family on Aug. 1, according to Greenwich Police.

Greenwich Man Is Charged with Violating Order of Protection, Harassment

Thomas J. Barter, 46, of 22 Cedar St., was arrested Tuesday when he appeared in state Superior Court in Stamford for another matter, according to a Greenwich Police report. Police had obtained an arrest warrant charging Barter with second-degree harassment and criminal violation of a protection order/threatening in connection with an Aug. 6 incident in Byram, according to a police report.

Motorists traveling between Greenwich and Port Chester, N.Y, on Mill Street will have to find a different route on Tuesday. The Greenwich Police Department issued a traffic alert for Aug. 4 for the Mill Street bridge, which carries neighborhood traffic over the Byram River.

For drivers making the border run between Byram and Port Chester will need more time come Tuesday as the Greenwich Highway Division will be paving the Mill Street Bridge and nearby streets. The Mill Street Bridge will be closed to traffic from 6 to 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, according to Greenwich Police.
